My personal experience in this specific treatment center Cumberland Hope Community in Evarts KY wasn't what I expected going in to say the least. Though I didn't expect a high end lush Dr Drew like treatment center, I didn't expect the extremely high level of structured environment. Every waking moment of every day in this huge home with a capacity for 100 residential female clients. I also didn't expect the care concern and love I was shown there. In my time spent at CHC I excelled fell short & excelled again. Not only did I learn how to abstain from alcohol, drugs, & anything mood or mind altering I began to discover who I was, had been transforming my life. Changing my attitude and outlook on life in general for the better. I learned accountability for myself and others, I learned and began to be totally honest with not just the people in my life but also to be totally honest with myself. Learning to recognize character defects in my self that were causing extreme harm and destruction internally. I not only learned to care and love others but also to care and love myself. This time in my life in eastern Ky brought me humility integrity and was introduced to my best friend as an adult sober woman . To which she seen things in me good and bad that I did not but trusted her recognition of my qualities positive and negative. Now going 7 yrs since my admission there I still carry all the positive life altering life improving qualities &morals. The bf I met in Evarts Ky she & I are still bffs to current date July 2025. I'm so very grateful that a judge seen something in me that I did not. Saying to me " I'm going to help you save your life" court ordered to complete. In my 2 years there I completed the program, became a peer mentor for 6 months after completing program myself. I also was nominated to become Harlan Co. Alcoholics Anonymous general service rep assistant, I helped establish Harlan Co. Narcotics Anonymous meetings and support, I was asked to give my lead my experience strength and hope of addiction and my recovery to Harlan Co drug court participants. Becoming a AA sponsor to 3 women was the most fulfilling experience there, and 1 of the most fulfilling of my life. The staff tough but unconditional love exudes from them to each and every woman that pass under the word HOPE through the doors into what no doubtedly will if not become home but home away from home. 5:30am-6:30 am wake ups every day no not celebrity rehab or The Betty Ford Clinic but a home filled with love understanding and a determination to to teach addiction dynamics and how so many people worldwide have sat the bottle down and or obstaining from that next high. I'm eternally grateful to and for Cumberland Hope Community and Alcoholic & Narcotics Anonymous. Thanks Bill & Dr Bob their all the reason why I'm alive and a decent human .I recommend any woman that's sick n tired of being sick n tired of getting drunk and or high seek help there is a solution and if at all possible pack a bag lightly and make your way to CHC in Evarts, Ky stick it out you'll never regret it you'll be alive and changed woman for the best. The bonds between us and our experiences are said to be that of men/women who serve in active war time together & surviving together!! Best wishes to all and especially to the ones still out there fighting a war within of addiction there's a solution and hope . I overdosed 11xs before walking thru those doors under Hope.No longer a slave to addiction
